TWC supports youth robotics teams and competitions through the Foundation for Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) in Texas school programs and the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation to ignite student interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers.
Robotics competitions bring together the excitement of sports and science and technology. The FIRST in Texas Robotics Competitions are mentor-based programs that encourage leadership skills in the science, engineering and technology fields of study while encouraging self-confidence and communications skills. TWC has supported FIRST in Texas high school programs since they were founded in 2010 through sponsorship grants for high school teams and competitions across the state.
The U.S. engages students in hands-on curriculum-based robotics engineering programs across the U.S. Youth participate in the robotics competition as part of team and working towards to the goal of building a robot to compete in the current challenge.
In 2015, TWC supported 444 teams, 4,807 students and 22 robotics events throughout Texas.
